A reading from the Holy Gospel according to Matthew 5:13-16 Jesus said to his disciples: "You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how will you make it salty? It is only good for something to be thrown out and trampled underfoot. You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bushel basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all in the house.
