Watch my full Santa directed drawing lesson! I always start by showing the final product, then I draw each step first and students follow along right after me. If you listen closely, there are so many position words naturally used during directed drawing—on top, below, beside, around—which fits perfectly with our December standards. This project also makes the sweetest keepsake. I take their Santa drawing and their Rudolph drawing, cut them out, glue them onto green cardstock (one on each side), and then laminate them. Such a fun way to build listening skills, fine motor skills, and understanding of position words all while creating something families will love.
