Australia is awash with new Chinese car brands, the vast majority of which are launching with fully electric vehicles, mostly in the extremely popular mid-size SUV segment. It figures, then, that this expert review sees CarsGuide Deputy News Editor Tom White comparing the already best-selling BYD Sealion 7 with the critically acclaimed XPeng G6. The Sealion 7 is a style-focused coupe SUV, while the less-interesting-to-look-at G6 isn't far off with its steeply raked exterior design. Either way, the two models are offering family car buyers both similar and different things. The BYD's entry-level Premium variant comes with an 82.6kWh battery pack that delivers 482km of WLTP-certified driving range. The XPeng's base-spec Standard Range has a smaller, 66kWh unit that lasts 435km between charges. Under the bonnet, the Sealion 7 has a single rear-mounted electric motor with 230kW of power and 380Nm of torque, while the G6 has a similar set-up but with 190kW/440Nm. So, which model is best? Watch on to find out. #BYD # Sealion7 #XPeng #G6 #Review -- Timecodes: 00:00 Intro 00:49 Pricing and features 01:49 Design – G6 02:40 Design – Sealion 7 03:24 Practicality – Sealion 7 06:33 Practicality – G6 09:48 Under the bonnet 10:14 Efficiency 11:03 Driving – Sealion 7 12:19 Driving – G6 13:27 Safety 13:55 Safety – G6 14:25 Safety – Sealion 7 14:43 Ownership – Sealion 7 15:10 Ownership – G6 15:37 Verdict -- Read Chris’ full review: https://bit.ly/441ltzM Check out our BYD Sealion 7 hub: https://bit.ly/3ZSq6cS Check out our XPeng G6 hub: https://bit.ly/43H3nmN Find more SUVs: https://bit.ly/3mXXb6P Visit our EV Guide: https://bit.ly/3DjhPTX -- CarsGuide - Go beyond the test drive Visit our website for News, Reviews, Advice and more: https://www.carsguide.com.au Subscribe to our YouTube channel: / carsguide Like our Facebook page: / carsguide.australia Follow our TikTok profile: / carsguide.com.au Follow our Instagram profile: / carsguideaus Follow our X profile: https://www.x.com/CarsGuide Follow our Threads profile: https://www.threads.net/@carsguideaus Follow our LinkedIn page: / carsguide-com-au
