Civil Strife is a burst of pyromania illuminating the night sky, expressing the vitality of a riot through amplifiers and percussion. Yet, the recognition of all varieties of styles manifests in our music. We're made in America. Yet, America stretches from the Pacific to the Atlantic and from Canada to Mexico. And we represent it all. Alan Garcia Alan was born in Palm Springs, California in 1995, but has lived in Knoxville, Tennessee all of his life. After dropping out of school in 2010 at the age of 15, Alan stayed with family in Mexico for a few months where he started writing songs, playing guitar and singing. Since 2011 Alan has pursued music in Knoxville. Vince Nejedlo Vince was born in Greenbay, Wisconsin in 1991, but he grew up in Crivitz, Wisconsin. Though guitar is his main instrument now, Vince didn't start playing guitar until he was 17 in 2008. While growing up in Crivitz, Vince started several bands and performed in bars since he was a teenager. Vince moved to Knoxville, Tennessee in 2014 where he has continued to pursue his music. His band "Moonshine Hill" that he founded in Wisconsin has found some success performing in Knoxville. In 2018 they performed at the Knox County Fair. Mark Kennedy Mark was born in Knoxville, Tennessee in 1968. He started playing guitar when he was 15 years old and played lead guitar in "Cryptic Faith", a punk/metal crossover band in the early 1980's in Knoxville. In the late 80's Mark played bass with the speed metal band "Stark Ravin'" founded by Brian Quarles in Knoxville. In the early 90's Mark left to Los Angeles, California to join Brian's new band "Smyte", a 3-pieced progressive metal band. After almost getting a record deal, the band recorded their entire album, but the singer left back to Knoxville and never came back to record his vocals and the band ended. In 1994 Mark moved to Palm Springs, California with his new wife, where they had Alan. He came back to Knoxville in 1996 and didn't play music again until he joined "Straight Line Stitch" in 1999. After leaving Straight Line Stitch Mark played off and on in Knoxville until 2011 when Alan returned from Mexico and asked Mark to be his lead guitarist. Alan and Mark played as an acoustic act in Knoxville at house parties and open mics until they began forming what would eventually be Civil Strife and Mark transitioned to bass. Neiko Levenhagen Neiko was born in Oshkosh, Wisconsin in 1991. He met Vince Nejedlo in Stevens Point, Wisconsin where they started "Moonshine Hill" while attending college in 2013. In 2014 Neiko transferred to the University of Tennessee and Vince came along with him to Knoxville. Neiko mostly played guitar and sang, but when he met Alan in 2017, who needed a drummer, he began to pursue his drums again. In 2017, Alan began hosting an open jam at a venue in Knoxville "Bar Marley" where he met Vince and Neiko. Alan and Mark were playing in two bands at the time "The Angry Monkeys" and "The Halogens". After playing music together a lot for fun in 2017 the group decided to start something serious after the New Year in 2018. Since then they have gone by Civil Strife, something Alan thought of after stories told by Mark and his mom about the Rodney King riots in 1992, a crisis that they lived through before Alan was born.
