The Chilean volcano Calbuco, which erupted twice since Wednesday, remained unstable and might explode again, local officials said on Saturday. The volcano had continued smoking and ejecting ash during the past hours, a situation that could last for several days. Meanwhile, the ash continued to advance northwards. The remains of the eruption even arrived at southwestern Argentina. Therefore, the authorities maintained a state of emergency and disaster alert in the areas surrounding the volcano. The previous eruptions forced the evacuation of 4,433 people living near the crater.
