Malcolm McAllister saw his knockout streak come to an end, and tasted the canvas for the first time in his career—but the unbeaten prospect hung on to earn a unanimous decision victory over Mexico’s Alejandro Torres (9-2-2, 4 KOs) in their middleweight bout on PBC on FS1 on March 28, 2017 from Robinson Rancheria Resort and Casino in Nice, California. McAllister—the Long Beach, Calif. native, who improved to 9-0 with 8 KOs—was in control of the fight throughout the first five rounds using his jab to control the distance. He began landing more right hands in the third round and continued to box effectively while building a lead on the scorecards. But the fight drastically changed early in the sixth and final round as Torres got the better of an exchange of power punches and connected with a massive left hook that stunned McAllister and sent him to the canvas. With a combination of clinches, jabs and movement, McAllister was able to finish off the fight on his feet despite Torres’ advances and held on for the decision (58-55 on all three judges’ cards.)
