Chris Sutton drops truth bomb with tweet after Martin Keown's rant about Mesut Ozil: https://www.givemesport.com/1306393-c.... Thanks for watching, subscribe for more videos. Martin Keown was furious with the performance of Mesut Ozil following Arsenal’s 1-0 defeat to Atletico Madrid on Thursday night and tore strips off the World Cup winner on BT Sport after the match. Ozil failed to make an impact over the course of the 90 minutes and Keown, who played for the Gunners between 1993-2004, said the Germany international was “not fit to wear the shirt” in an astonishing post-match rant. Arsenal lost the match 1-0, with Diego Costa scoring the only goal of the game on the stroke of half-time. "These are crocodile tears I'm seeing. He's not conning me," Keown said on BT Sport. "I bet he doesn't play again this season. He will have some emotional breakdown and won't be able to play at the weekend. "He wasn't fit to wear the shirt for me tonight, and I have seen this a lot this season." It was a damning assessment for Keown, whose views were not shared by Arsene Wenger. The veteran French coach, who will leave Arsenal this summer, responded after the match: “I don’t agree with that. I think you will see that when you analyse his physical performance that he gave a lot tonight. “It was a difficult game, physically very intense and I’m convinced Ozil should not be now vindicated by anybody because we didn’t score. We had plenty of opportunities in the two games. We lose as a team. “I don’t agree with that, coming out now straight away. "When you want to be listened to now you always have to be extreme. "Football is a bit more complicated than that, a bit more complex.” Someone else who doesn’t agree with Keown’s brutal assessment of Ozil is the defender’s BT Sport colleague, Chris Sutton. Reacting to the footage of Keown’s rant, Sutton tweeted: “Easy target Ozil.... Ozil wasn’t at fault for the goal Atletico weren’t even trying to score at Emirates...Bellerin at fault tonight... that’s why Arsenal are out.. not Ozil..” And Arsenal fans, by and large, were all in complete agreement with the former Celtic striker. They agree that pinning the blame on Ozil for Thursday night’s defeat against Diego Simeone’s side was out of order. Sutton and the Arsenal supporters who agree with him certainly have a point. Was Costa’s goal Ozil’s fault? Clearly not. Hector Bellerin and David Ospina both should have done more to prevent the goal. However, what can’t be denied is that Ozil has gone missing in too many big matches since joining the Gunners from Real Madrid in 2013. While his technical qualities as a footballer cannot be questioned, his attitude and mentality certainly should be. Arsenal fans: is the criticism of Mesut Ozil harsh or justified?
