He is the playable protagonist of the Star Wars Jedi game series which includes the 2019 video game Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order and its 2023 sequel, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, developed by Respawn Entertainment. The character has also appeared in other media of the franchise, such as the novel Star Wars Jedi: Battle Scars by Sam Maggs, which bridges the gap between the two Star Wars Jedi games. Cal is played by American actor and model Cameron Monaghan through performance capture. The Inquisitorius, also known as the Inquisitorius Program, the Order of Inquisitors, the Inquisitor corps, the Imperial Inquisition, or simply Inquisition, was an organization of Force-sensitive operatives under the Galactic Empire. Inquisitors were tasked with hunting the remaining Jedi throughout the galaxy following the destruction of the Jedi Order, as well as other political dissidents, and retrieving Force-sensitive children as part of Project Harvester. Nicknamed "Red Blades," these dark side adepts were governed by Darth Vader and led by an individual known only as the Grand Inquisitor. The Ninth Sister, formerly known as Masana Tide, was a female Dowutin Inquisitor who once served as a Jedi Knight in the Jedi Order during the Clone Wars before being captured by the Galactic Empire. After her capture, she was subjected to torture and mutilation before falling to the Dark Side and undergoing training by The Grand Inquisitor, and briefly by Darth Vader, to become a skilled Jedi hunter. One of her first missions during the early days of the Imperial Era, the Ninth Sister accompanied Darth Vader, the Sixth Brother, and the Tenth Brother to the planet Mon Cala to hunt the Jedi Padawan Ferren Barr. Later, she accompanied the Second Sister to hunt down the fugitive Padawan Cal Kestis, who defeated her in a duel on Kashyyyk. She survived the duel and went on to hunt down Tensu Run with the Seventh Sister, but was ultimately killed by Kestis in 9 BBY during a battle on Coruscant.
