'What the hell am I playing?' ======================= Nobody really knows why the Zone is here. Some people say it's man's doing, some people say it's god's doing for man's doing, and some other people think it's aliens or whatever. I think in the grand scheme of things this little bit of context is unimportant, it's not why we're here. The eggheads at Yantar are here for that, but not us, that's not why we tredge through the mud every day, braving the radiation, and the blowouts, and the bandits to then come to stare horrible mutants in the face. Things that make your nightmares seem like calm retreats. You and me, we're here for one thing: Artifacts. The strange treasures of a strange and deadly land, miraculous things which heal the sick, protect you from harm, fill you with energy, defy all known science, and are worth a lot of money because of all of that... ...And something about crashed helicopers. But that was just our ticket in and, once we're filthy rich and loaded down in swag, our ticket out. A means, that's all, our bus schedule back to the outside world where we will live free and easy for the rest of our days. So stop your musing about why and keep one eye on the prize, and the other on the tree line. It's a long walk to Pripyat.
