Going through old videos and I stumbled upon this one. The angle of water application during the transitional attack can greatly affect the water distribution in the fire room. A position on the outside that allows for a gradual angle will place the water in the middle of the ceiling and the water will distribute to the back wall and follow the construction features. A position that allows for a steep angle of water application and placing the stream right behind the window lintel and ceiling will allow for the “sprinkler affect” and provide the desired coverage. The nozzle being used in this training was a 7/8 smooth bore. If this is a task that you or your organization utilizes; understand the why and what is happening. To the officer from Basil FD, thank you for giving me this video.
