Unraid parity drive upgrade made simple. In this video, I walk through replacing a 10TB parity drive with a new 18TB drive and show exactly how Unraid keeps your array protected during the process. If you're upgrading storage or increasing redundancy, swapping a parity drive is a critical maintenance task. I demonstrate stopping the array, setting the parity disk to “no device,” starting in maintenance mode, and safely removing the old drive. Then we physically install the 18TB replacement, assign it as the new parity disk, and start the array to begin the parity sync. You’ll see what warnings to expect, how long the rebuild can take, and how to verify the parity sync completes successfully. Once finished, the drive returns to normal operation and your array is fully protected again.
