Russian 2S5 Giatsint-S Artillery Soldiers fire 152mm rounds in Ukraine

The Soviet designed 2S5 Giatsint-S 152-mm Self-Propelled Gun entering service in 1978 was deployed in 1981 with Soviet forces in Eastern Europe. It was part of a group of Soviet systems capable of delivering low-yield tactical nuclear strikes against enemy forces. It was designed to detonate relatively close, forward of advancing Soviet forces. Deployed in Ukraine since Russia's invasion in February 2022, the Russian federation 2S5 Giatsint-S 152-mm Self-Propelled Gun artillery crews assigned to Western Military District (WMD) armed with conventional High Explosive 152mm rounds have played an active role in attacking Ukranian positions.
