Missing Autistic Brooklyn Jewish Boy Located Upstate NY

State police say Simon Zorger, a 10-year-old autistic boy from Brooklyn, was found today in Kiryas Joel, the same upstate village where he was last seen on Sunday afternoon. The boy went missing around 7 p.m. Sunday, when he wandered off while visiting his grandparents in the town, which is mostly populated by Hasidic Jews. Officials say Simon was found around 10 a.m. Monday by a state trooper, and that family members were happy to be reunited with the child. "Thank god that we found him, he's alive, he's well," said Yitzi Bernth, the assistant chief of the Kiryas Joel Fire Department. "We took him to his doctor, and thank god that it ended up perfect." More than 200 people had looked for the boy, including state and local police officials.
