Civil Unrest Erupts in Northwest Paris on Anniversary of 18-Year-Old's Death

Fireworks were fired at police and vehicles set alight in the northwest Parisian suburb of Argenteuil in the early hours of May 18. The violence fell on the first anniversary of the death of a local 18-year-old motorcyclist. The teenager, reported only as Sabri, died in an accident near a police vehicle on May 17 of last year. An investigation into the incident found the police were not involved in the 18-year-old’s death, French media reported.
