Despite that, I instantly fell in love with the style and music. Especially the main theme, which fuses high energy jazz with the baroque sound of the harpsichord. Considering Rhythm Thief is another rhythm game on 3DS, I figured it would make for great Megamix-themed remixes. So here is the Main Theme remix. I used 8 games all found in Rhythm Heaven Megamix, equally split across the 4 series. This means there are 2 GBA games, 2 DS games, 2 Wii games, and 2 3DS exclusive games. Megamix doesn't really have post-story remixes (that aren't medley remixes) like the other games. But if it did, this is how I imagine they would be set up. (As an aside, one of the games I used, Fork Lifter, is unlocked with flowballs). Regarding game choice, I started by picking Rat Race. Although this game does not appear a whole lot, I consider it the main game in this remix. This is because of the similar nature it has to one of Rhythm Thief's own games: when Phantom R is looting the Louvre itself. Despite being picked first, it is the last game in order of appearance. I knew from the beginning that I wanted it to appear in the climactic section at 0:59. I chose to save it for that section, and to not make it appear elsewhere in the remix. After Rat Race, I generally selected games to fit the style and rhythms of the main theme. I also tried to make other references to Rhythm Thief itself. Kitties! and Jumpin' Jazz were both selected for having jazzy pieces in their original games. Jumpin' Jazz was also selected, alongside The Snappy Trio, due to the characters wearing costumes that are surprisingly similar to Phantom R's. Rhythm Thief features fighting action as well as dancing, so Figure Fighter and Tangotronic 3000 were perfect fits to me. Blue Birds was mostly chosen to fit the rhythm, but I thought the music in its original game sounded somewhat french-style, with the accordian. Lastly, I originally used the game Donk-Donk, for its triplet rhythms. For some reason I thought Donk-Donk was in Megamix. When I realized my error, I replaced it with Fork Lifter, as that was the closest Wii game I could find that could cover the triplet rhythms the way I wanted.
