As several senators have noted, these procedures are commonly directed at independent media outlets, in an obvious attempt to eliminate competition, control information, and manipulate the Brazilian public. In an administrative inquiry at the Superior Electoral Court, following this type of procedure, Justice Luís Felipe Salomão ordered the confiscation of income from several individuals, websites, and conservative channels, including Folha Política.
