We are deliberating! The COVID-19 Vaccine Hesitancy and the Black Community

Is the black community hesitant or deliberating when it comes to the COVID-19 vaccination? Racism and its subsequent effects on social and economic factors have resulted in the virus disproportionately affecting black people. There is truth to the saying “When America catches a cold, the black community catches pneumonia”. Widespread hesitancy during worldwide campaigns against COVID-19 could cost many lives, both among the hesitant and among their fellow citizens. Despite the best efforts of the public health agencies many families are continuing to opt out of routine vaccines and the COVID-19 vaccination and so we deliberate. Join us as we have a poignant discussion about vaccine hesitancy and deliberation, the impact on the community and how we support black communities in the decision making process. This town hall will convene local and national experts, testimonials about near death experiences and much more. In this townhall we will discuss: -Truth about behaviors in the black community regarding vaccine hesitancy, deliberation and the difference. -The dangers of both -Equity and availability of the vaccine -The importance of culturally grounded care and messaging Panelists include: Francesca Weaks, DrPH MCHES Owner The Genevieve Strategy Group Niharika Khanna, MD, MBBS, DGO Professor, Family and Community Medicine University of Maryland School of Medicine Marcy Myles-Clark, MBA & Theirrien “Tee” Clark Healthpreneur and best-selling author of “Praying Wife Healed Husband, How We Survived a Death Defying COVID-19 Experience.”
