Ali Mir Within our communities we have institutions such as masaajid, student unions,advocacy organizations, and various solidarity coalitions. There is continuous struggle about how effective these institutions are in promoting Islamic values and advocating for the oppressed, all while being inclusive and making space for the various Muslim identities within our ummah. This leads to intergenerational discrepancies as our elders established these masaajid and spaces for us. What are the ways we can address injustices within our own communities that inadvertently push Muslims out of these spaces? How do we build on the efforts of our elders without disregarding the foundations that were set for us and without isolating ourselves from our parents’ generation?
