Tracking the Tropics: Tropical Storm Earl predicted to be 1st major hurricane of the season

The fifth named storm of the Atlantic hurricane season, Tropical Storm Earl, formed Friday night near the northern Leeward Islands. According to the NHC, a sharp turn to the north is expected during the next couple of days, before curving northeast into the central Atlantic. More strengthening is likely over the next several days. The current forecast from the NHC has Earl strengthening into a hurricane on Tuesday and even forecasts the first major hurricane of the season by Friday.
