Their relationship wasn't stable, but they loved each other really deeply. Somehow S. wanted to revenge in some way on L, because she started to lie to him and cheat on him. Started to ignore him, even tho she knew that she did wrong. She became scared of him when he hit her for the first time. He changed, so as she. S. didn't really realized how she started to act, like she wasn't the same person anymore, so he put his anger wherever he could. Even on her. Both of them changed. When he started to think about it all, thats when it happened.
