#VideoClipOfTheDay – County Firefighters Respond to Early Morning Attic Fire – May 29, 2024 Arriving on scene with SBCoFD firefighters in the City of Hesperia to a residential structure fire, crews found a working attic fire. Watch as firefighters from Truck 304 go to the roof for vertical ventilation to aid suppression efforts. Firefighters encountered significant fire loading in the attic, including plastic storage containers and other materials, which contributed to fire spread and hampered suppression efforts. In the video, you can see how this additional fire load created access challenges for interior crews. A hose line was taken to the roof to support suppression efforts. Fires like this often commit the bulk of Fire District resources in the City of Hesperia and surrounding communities. These incidents require several hours for knockdown and overhaul, ensuring no hidden fire remains. While firefighters are engaged in operations, cover engines are brought in from surrounding Fire District service areas to maintain fire and EMS coverage. A primary and secondary search confirmed no occupants were inside. During overhaul, firefighters discovered a grow operation in the garage. The Sheriff’s Department and County Office of the Fire Marshal were requested to investigate further.
