TRMM LIS/OTD Low Resolution Time Series (LRTS)

TRMM LIS/OTD 2.5 Degree Low Resolution Time Series (LRTS) The LIS/OTD Climatology data sets consist of gridded climatologies of total lightning flash rates seen by the spaceborne Optical Transient Detector (OTD) and Lightning Imaging Sensor (LIS) on the Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission (TRMM) satellite. Notice: Users are strongly encouraged to choose the LIS/OTD 2.5 Degree Low Resolution Monthly Time Series (LRMTS) data set over the LIS/OTD 2.5 Degree Low Resolution Time Series (LRTS) data set. Both products have ~3 month smoothing, so the 'daily data' adds little useful information compared to that in the much smaller LRMTS files.
