Building a Realistic Airport! - Cities Skylines 2
The new interstate has county leaders convinced nothing can go wrong. It’s as if all the past disasters never happened. But now they’ve set their sights on something much more ambitious, a local airport. So they form The Lithia Bay Airport Authority. Its first job is to meet with major airlines about bringing service to Lithia Bay. Over the next few months, those meetings turn into formal conversations, and one carrier signs a letter of intent for a first route from a major hub. But that yes comes with one condition: the county covers all losses in the first twelve months. The Budget Office runs the model and projects a deficit before the airport even opens. They recommend delaying the project. If they don’t, the budget for essential city services like waste management, road maintenance, everything that keeps the city running, will need to be cut. However, County leaders don't care. “This is just the cost of doing business." "Service cuts will only be temporary" "the budget will balance itself.” They give the Authority a clear mandate: do whatever it takes to build the airport on schedule.
