On arrival engine 13 reported heavy fire and smoke to the rear of the building. Soon after arrival crew members said the building flashed over which I missed. Engine 8, Battalion 8, Squads 2 and 3, and Safety 153 soon arrived along with Truck 4 to bring the fire under control. It was determined the house was vacant and nobody was injured. As crews battled this fire an apartment building fire all the way on the other side of the city was dispatched, a mother and her daughter perished in that fire.
