Red Hyperbolic Pseudosphere

The fascination of crocheting hyperbols and pseudospheres generates various organic forms worked in a simple method. Daina Taimina was the first who visualied apparently very complicated mathematical concepts and at the same time she created wonderful artworks. The fotostory shows the development of a pseudosphere when every 6th stitch is doubled. The stitches are increasing exponentially. For the last round three hours of busy crocheting were neccessary. The red pseudosphere is a part of an artwork made of six hyperbolic planes.
