US Hits ISIS Target In Nigeria Following Anti-Christian Attacks ; Trump Confirms Strikes

The United States has carried out airstrikes against ISIS targets in northwest Nigeria on Christmas Day, marking a major escalation of U.S. military action in Africa. U.S. President Donald Trump announced the strikes via a Truth Social post, claiming ISIS militants in Nigeria were targeting civilians, including Christians. Trump warned that further attacks could follow if the violence continues. U.S. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth later confirmed that the strikes were conducted in coordination with the Nigerian government and hinted at more operations ahead. U.S. Africa Command (United States Africa Command) also acknowledged the strikes, stating that the U.S. remains committed to eliminating terrorist threats to Americans at home and abroad. The action comes just days after U.S. airstrikes on ISIS targets in Syria, following the killing of American troops in a suspected ISIS attack earlier this month—raising questions about whether Washington is opening a new front in its global fight against ISIS. However, reports also suggest there is no clear evidence that Christians are disproportionately targeted in Nigeria, with most victims of jihadist violence being Muslims themselves. #USAirstrikes #Nigeria #Trump #ISIS #AfricaSecurity #ChristmasStrikes #WarOnTerror #AFRICOM #GlobalSecurity #BreakingNews #Geopolitics #MiddleEastAndAfrica
