Hyundai has officially unveiled the large luxury sedan, the first model for its new Genesis luxury brand. It’ll be called Genesis G90 (in Korea the EQ900) and will compete at the top of the luxury car market. Designed with profound elegance and world-best technological innovations, the G90 will replace the Equus, and will occupy the newly founded Genesis luxury sub-brand. The car is characterized by elongated hood and chromed hexagonal grille dubbed the ‘Crest’ grille flanked by LED headlights. Moving at the rear there are LED taillights and dual exhaust tips, and rides on multi-spoke alloy wheels available in 18- and 19-inch sizes. Depending on the version, the car weighs between 2,420 and 2,595 kg, the trunk volume is 484 liters, and it measures 5,205 mm long, 1,915 mm wide, 1,495 mm tall, while the wheelbase is 3,160 mm. Inside, the car is equipped with high-quality materials, specially-developed semi-aniline Italian leather, and glossy real wood. There’s also ergonomic seats, certified by German back specialists, with 22-way power adjustment for the driver and 14 ways for the other occupants. The center console occupies a 12.3-inch high definition display screen, linked to the car’s infotainment system and camera, 360-degree around-view monitor. Other goodies include three-zone automatic air-conditioning system, wireless inductive phone charging and Lexicon surround sound system. In terms of powertrains, the Genesis G90 offers three engine options: starting with a least potent 3.8 liter GDI V6 that provides 315 PS and 397 Nm of torque, then a a 3.3 liter turbocharged GDi V6 engine with 370 PS and 510 Nm of torque. And the most powerful 5.0-liter GDI V8 unit provides 425 PS and 520 Nm of torque. All three units are paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission to the rear wheels or H-TRAC all-wheel drive as an option.
