How To Make A Trinket Box Using Air Dry Clay - Elephant with blue background and gold stars DIY

In this video I show the whole process of making a trinket box using air dry clay, and how I decorate it. I used terracotta clay for this but you can pick up many different coloured clay online or in your local craft store. I show each step to making the trinket box and then show how I sealed it using Mod Podge, primed it using acrylic gesso primer, and then painted it using acrylic paints. To finish I used Polyvine heavy duty wood varnish which I usually use to varnish my pots that I plan to have outside. I don't plan for this piece to go outside at all but I didn't want to use resin and I knew that this varnish would give a really glossy finish similar to how resin looks. I had so much fun making this and especially painting it at the end, and it was really nice to see the whole thing come together once the varnish was going on. I chose to do a blue background and gold stars as I wanted it to seem like the elephant was sleeping and I feel like it turned out really cute. I know the box shape isn't perfect and its a bit lumpy and bumpy but that is the thing about making crafts at home. It isn't perfect but I am really happy with how it turned out and I hope that you give it a try at home. I really hope that you enjoyed this video and thank you so much for watching! :)
