Events That Rocked the Region: The Lisa Ziegert Murder | Connecting Point | May 21, 2018

There are times in our lives that we will never forget - moments that changed our world, shaped who we are, and after they happened, things were never the same again: they are The Events That Rocked the Region. This week, Connecting Point looks back at the Lisa Ziegert Murder. On April 15, 1992, 24-year old Lisa Ziegert was working at a card and gift shop in Agawam, MA when she was kidnapped, raped, and brutally murdered— an event that shocked western Massachusetts. For more than 25 years, her murder went unsolved and loomed large in the minds of the community, with people wondering if her killer was walking among them. But a break in the case in September 2017 finally led to the arrest of 48-year old Gary Schara. Carolee McGrath explores the history of the investigation and talks with Lisa Ziegert’s mother, Dee Ziegert, who never gave up hope that one day there would be justice for her daughter.
