BALDWIN COUNTY, Ala. (WPMI) The Baldwin County Sheriff's Office Friday announced the arrest of Orange Beach Police Officer Timothy Gavin on charges of sexual abuse of a child. Local 15 was at a news conference called by investigators Friday afternoon. Authorities said the incident happened three to four years ago, and involved a girl under the age of 12. Law enforcement said they just recently learned about the incident. "It's difficult, any time you have a trusted person of the community that violates the law, but we are also mindful that we are very upset that there is a child victim in this case," said Baldwin County Sheriff Huey Hoss Mack. Gavin has been an officer with the Orange Beach Police Department for over 10 years. He was most recently part of the Drug Task Force for Baldwin County. Gavin is scheduled for a bond hearing Monday. Local 15 News will be there. If found guilty, Gavin could spend up to 20 years in jail.
