(5 Jul 2022) RESTRICTION SUMMARY: ASSOCIATED PRESS Kramatorsk, Ukraine - 5 July 2022 1. Various of smoke above factory after shelling 2. Journalists at conference 3. SOUNDBITE (Ukrainian) Pavlo Kyrylenko, Donetsk governor: "The (Russians') number one target is now to capture Sloviansk and Kramatorsk. It's very symbolic because first of all, today is the eighth anniversary of the liberation of those northern towns of the region. And secondly, it's important from the point of view of critical infrastructure that is providing water. And we understand this." 4. Car passing through street as sirens are heard 5. SOUNDBITE (Ukrainian) Pavlo Kyrylenko, Donetsk governor: "Our enemy didn't move forward. But their audacious actions shows that there is more shelling and those shellings are very chaotic; they do not have a specific target for their attacks – such as, military infrastructure or defenses. But only to destroy civilian infrastructure and to destroy residential areas, such as those over the weekend in Sloviansk and Kramatorsk." 6. Various of smoke in distance after strike 7. SOUNDBITE (Ukrainian) Pavlo Kyrylenko, Donetsk governor: "Our main goal is to evacuate to avoid such a situation that we are facing right now. We've had shelling on civilian infrastructure and it endangers lives." 8. Journalists 9. SOUNDBITE (Ukrainian) Pavlo Kyrylenko, Donetsk governor: "There are about 350,000 citizens who stayed here (in the region), compared with 1.6 million who lived here before. It's a very significant quantity, that's why my main goal – and I will talk about this with local administrations – and I will be more severe this time: despite what people would say, I do care about their homes and their lives -- they should leave." 10. Man smoking, UPSOUND of sirens 11. SOUNDBITE (Ukrainian) Pavlo Kyrylenko, Donetsk governor: "When the shelling is more active, more people are willing to leave. Two days ago, 64 people applied for evacuation from Sloviansk – this morning, we counted 200 and in the coming days we will have more." 12. Various of main square of Kramatorsk 13. SOUNDBITE (Ukrainian) Pavlo Kyrylenko, Donetsk governor: "Once there will be less people, we will be able to concentrate more on our enemy and performing our main tasks." 14. Main square of Kramatorsk STORYLINE: The governor of the Donetsk regional administration Pavlo Kyrylenko told reporters on Tuesday that citizens must evacuate the region - where a Russian offensive is intensifying - to save lives, and enable the Ukrainian army to better defend towns. "Once there are less people, we will be able to concentrate more on our enemy and perform our main tasks" said Kyrylenko, speaking at a press conference in Kramatorsk. He said Russia's "number one target" is currently the cities Sloviansk and Kramatorsk, in part because of critical infrastructure in the towns, such as water filtration centres. The governor said that 350,000 citizens remain in the Donetsk region; adding that the population of areas controlled by the Ukrainian government was 1.6 million in peacetime. "It's a very significant quantity, that's why my main goal is (to evacuate people)," said Kyrylenko. Kryrylenko added that as strikes on residential areas intensified, more people were leaving. He described shelling as "very chaotic" and without "a specific target... only to destroy civilian infrastructure and residential areas." According to the governor, 64 people applied on Sunday for evacuation from Sloviansk and on Tuesday, 200 people applied. =========================================================== Clients are reminded: Find out more about AP Archive: http://www.aparchive.com/HowWeWork Twitter: / ap_archive Facebook: / aparchives Instagram: / apnews You can license this story through AP Archive: http://www.aparchive.com/metadata/you...
