WEST BANK: RAMALLAH: CLASHES UPDATE

(21 Oct 2000) Natural Sound XFA A fierce gun battle broke out in Ramallah on Saturday. The West Bank city has been the scene of some of the most violent confrontations over the past few weeks. Israeli soldiers exchanged gunfire with Palestinians and faced a barrage of stone-throwing. Soldiers crouched behind jeeps as youths attacked them. A tank was brought to the edge of town to provide back-up for the soldiers under fire.
