Smuggler S01E07 In at the Death

A former British naval officer turned smuggler navigates the espionage war between England and France in 1802, evading revenue officers while entangled in the clashing nations' covert operations. This Harlech TV series was set in 1802 (during the early days of the Napoleonic wars) and chronicled the swashbuckling adventures of Jack Vincent (Oliver Tobias) – an ex-British naval officer turned smuggler. A headstrong loner, Vincent eluded revenue officers along the coast of England and frequently found himself entangled in the espionage war between England and France. The series was narrated by Welsh lad Honesty Evans (Hywel Williams-Ellis) who was reluctantly taken in by Vincent when the boy survived a shipwreck. Filming took place in and around Bristol and North Devon. Jack’s smuggler’s cottage was constructed from hardboard, plaster and fibreglass in London and shipped to the clifftop location near Bristol. Tobias returned as Jack Vincent in the 1987 series Adventurer.
