Attack on Somalia hotel continues

(29 Oct 2017) Emergency workers and security personnel were working at the site of a a deadly attack in the Somali capital early Sunday, removing debris and recovering victims' bodies following a suicide truck bomb explosion outside a popular hotel. The incident in Mogadishu on Saturday killed at least 23 people and wounded more than 30. Gunfire continued as security forces pursued other attackers inside the building, police said. Two more blasts were heard, one when an attacker detonated a suicide vest. Saturday's blasts came two weeks after more than 350 people were killed in a massive truck bombing on a busy Mogadishu street in the country's worst-ever attack. Al-Shabab, Africa's deadliest Islamist extremist group, quickly claimed responsibility for Saturday's attack and said its fighters were inside the hotel.
