TMEA selected two pieces from Robert Schumann's Kinderszenen (note the correct spelling) for all-state piano auditions this year. As they are listed as a single etude on the list, I am giving you both pieces in a single video. Required Tempo Ranges: 0:00 Bittendes Kind: Eighth Note = 120-138 1:09 Am Kamin: Quarter note = 104-120 Successful performance of this music requires careful attention to voicing and appropriate use of rubato. Please be delicate and sensitive. To perform well at auditions, students should learn the "etudes" over the summer. Memorization is not required, but I highly recommend it anyway. Region and Area cuts will be revealed in due course. Given the brevity of each of these pieces, the "cuts" are likely to be "play from the first measure to the last measure". Please contact me to set up a Zoom or in-person coaching session to refine your performance.
