Description: On 12 August 1985, a routine domestic flight operated by Japan Airlines with a Boeing 747SR‑46 (registration JA8119) turned into the worst single-aircraft disaster in aviation history. Just 12 minutes after take-off from Haneda Airport en-route to Itami Airport, the aircraft suffered an explosive decompression, its vertical stabiliser sheared off, all hydraulic systems failed and the crew fought desperately for control for 32 minutes before crashing into Mount Takamagahara in Japan. With 524 people onboard, only four survived. The root cause was traced to an improper tail-strike repair years earlier, which eventually gave way. In this video we explore: What happened onboard Flight 123 How a hidden maintenance error led to catastrophic failure The human stories of the crew, passengers, and the survivors Key lessons learned for aviation safety 🔔 If you’re interested in aviation mysteries, disasters and investigations, don’t forget to subscribe and hit the bell icon to stay updated.
