2014 NFL DRAFT | Pro Comparisons | Top 5 DEs | Jadeveon Clowney

Sleeper: Dominique Easley of the Florida Gators compares well to Sheldon Richardson of the New York Jets. I think Easley will slip from his injury, but would be an excellent 4-3 defensive tackle, or 3-4 defensive end. 5th: Kony Ealy of the Missouri Tigers compares well to Whitney Mercilus of the Houston Texans. I don't rate Ealy as high as most, but a strong combine can change my opinion of him. 4th: Jackson Jeffcoat of the Texas Longhorns compared well to Trent Cole of the Philadelphia Eagles. I think Jeffcoat is a more natural 4-3 defensive end, but I wouldn't doubt he could handle being a 3-4 outside linebacker in the NFL. 3rd: Trent Murphy of the Stanford Cardinal reminds me off a less polished, rawer JJ Watt of the Houston Texans. I think Murphy has the size and IQ as Watt, just gives up a little in terms of raw athletic ability. Murphy will be a playmaker at the next level though, looked unstoppable at the senior bowl practices. 2nd: Dee Ford of the Auburn Tigers reminds me of Elvis Dumervil of the Baltimore Ravens. Both have great low centers of gravity and will be very difficult to block because of their speed, size and great lower body strength. 1st: Jadeveon Clowney compares well to Julius Peppers. I think Clowney should be the first player taken off the board in the 2014 NFL Draft, because for Houston, having JJ Watt and Clowney on opposing sides will be near unstoppable. Clowney may test better than Peppers which is saying something, wouldn't be surprised if Clowney tops out in every category for defensive players.
