State DYFI leader Minakshi Mukherjee grabbed the attention during the Left’s protest against police action. The Left workers and supporters started protesting over the dispersing of TET candidates the previous night by the police. The police also dispersed the Left workers leading to clash between the cops and the Left workers. Chaos soon spread in Salt Lake’s City Centre crossing on Friday morning. Past Thursday midnight, the police removed the protesting candidates who had written the TET and were protesting in Salt Lake’s Karunamoyee. The police bodily lifted the candidates and packed them into buses which the police had brought. Chaos ensued in Karunamoyee at midnight after police dispersed the protesting TET students. A large number of candidates, who have cleared the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) in 2014, started a hunger strike on Tuesday, October 18, after staging a sit-in protest on Monday. They staged the sit-in protest outside the office of the West Bengal Board of Primary Education (WBBPE) in Salt Lake. The protestors are demanding that they be given appointment letters for teaching jobs immediately.
