Hi there, Jesse here with etrailer. Today we'll be taking a look at and I'll show you how to install the Curt custom wiring harness on our 2020 Hyundai Ioniq. Adding a wiring harness like this Curt custom fit one is absolutely essential if you plan on doing any kind of towing with your Hyundai, it's going to keep you safe and legal out there on the road. This allows you to power through your trailer wiring to your taillights on your trailer. It's gonna let you signal to other drivers if you are turning or stopping, and also get your daytime running lights work. This is what the wiring harness will look like when you are ready to hook up to your trailer. Whenever you're not, you would just most likely store it in here under this panel. If you're planning on doing towing frequently, you might want to opt for getting a bracket that will let it mount down on the hitch, but I actually prefer this way. It keeps it out of the elements so you don't have to worry about the terminals corroding at all. And the wiring harness was made to do this so you don't have to worry about damaging it by closing the hatch on it. And I like the fact that when you're not towing, it can be completely hidden and out of your way. When you are ready to use it, it's as simple as pulling it out of here, shutting that down and closing your hatch. So yeah, really an easy, simple setup that you can keep out of the way when you're not using it and it will keep you safe and legal out there on the road. As far as the install goes, it's very simple. It's just a matter of getting access to the wiring on your factory tail lights and then you have to run a power wire up to the front of the vehicle. So if that's not something that you're looking to do yourself, maybe you don't have the time and space where the tools to do so, feel free to check out our dealer locator. However, if you are looking to get this set up yourself, feel free to follow along and I'll show you how we set up ours. We'll begin our install inside of the hatch here. We'll have to lift this panel out. It just simply lifts out of place. And for this floor panel, we have some screws holding it on. It's just an eight millimeter socket or you could use a Phillips screwdriver, get those out. (socket whirring) So there's three on this side and three on the other side. (socket whirring) Now this should pull out of here and the centerpiece isn't held in by anything, just pull that out. There are two separate pieces. They'll separate in the middle. We'll just set all this aside. We need to remove this scuff panel here. There's just some push pin fasteners holding it in, one on each side. I'll just take a flat head, get under that and pry out, get those out of the way. And this should just kind of pull out and lift up. We'll set that aside. To get access to our wiring, we'll have to kind of peel back this felt liner here. So we have a push pin fastener here. Just pop that out. Now we have two 10 millimeter bolts to remove. One there, one here. (socket whirring) And then we should be able to kind of just peel this back. We won't be able to remove it all the way, but just enough so we can get access to the wiring. May have to kind of dig under this plastic panel and peel it out. And we're able to pull it back about that far. And our wiring harness that we need is kinda tucked up and may be hard to see, but you can get your eyes on it and then you'll just have to push down on a pin and pull the wires out. So real quick, I'll just go over the harness here. Of course, we have our four pole connector that connects to our trailer and gets our lights running. Then we have everything runs through this black control module here, our black wire, that's our power wire, which we will actually extend out and run to the battery under the hood. Our green wire that's gonna run to our passenger side tail light, the yellow, red and brown that runs through our driver's side and our white wire, we will ground out somewhere in here on metal. So first, before we get everything installed, I actually already ran our extension through a grommet because I'm gonna run it underneath the vehicle. So it is just a convenient grommet there. I popped that out and ran our wire through because once we get everything hooked up, it's gon
