This is crucial for any retail business or anyone involved in buying and selling products. We will cover a few different scenarios in this video. To begin we will examine credit purchases made by a merchandiser without any discount offered, as well as the corresponding journal entries made by that merchandiser. We will continue by then analyzing a more complex situation, where a merchandiser makes the same credit purchase, but this time with a discount offered. In our discussion, we will cover what credit terms are and how to interpret them, what the discount period is, and how to properly compute a potential discount. We also explain how to correctly record this type of transaction both during and after the discount period.
