Woodshop fire breaks out in Scarborough | CTV News Toronto at Noon for Mar. 5, 2026

Firefighters are shuttling water tankers from Pickering, Ajax, and Whitby to fight the fire that started this morning around 9 a.m. 100 firefighters are at the scene and the cause of the fire is still unknown. More than 25,000 public servants have received notice that their job could be at risk. Data from Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat and federal unions show notices have been issued to employees in 36 departments since December. The Perspectives public art program transforms the tunnel at Billy Bishop into art. The current exhibit explores Toronto’s diversity that defines the city.
