Despite some hardships, the Texas grit has re-emerged in Yvonne, along with the fight and warrior spirit engrained into her from her hardworking and moral parents. Yvonne Rogers was born February 2, 1968 at Reese AFB, Texas, in Lubbock County. She is the youngest and only girl of three children. Her father, a Texas native, enlisted in the Navy during WWII and retired in the early 1970s after Vietnam, having also served in the reserves. Yvonne’s mother was born in Hiroshima, Japan and is a survivor of the atomic bomb. Yvonne grew up in Lubbock, Texas and played violin throughout her school years. She was editor of her high school newspaper and yearbook. She graduated from Texas TechUniversity in 1990 with a bachelor’s degree in writing and editing. Shortly after graduation, Yvonne moved to San Angelo, Texas, where she met and married her first husband. Utilizing her writing and editing skills, Yvonne has worked in a variety of capacities as a government contractor, in local municipalities, and in the legal field. Mother of one daughter and a step-son, she is currently married to Patrick, a retired police officer. She has lived in Texas, Colorado, Australia, and New Jersey. Yvonne is a dedicated weightlifter and, at 56, she competed in her first bodybuilding competition in the Figure Division.
