UN Warns 6.5 Million in Somalia at Risk of Severe Hunger Amid Drought | World News

New United Nations data shows that about 6.5 million people in Somalia are at risk of severe hunger and acute food insecurity as prolonged drought worsens living conditions across the Horn of Africa nation. The Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) report projects that, by the end of March 2026, millions could face crisis‑level food shortages or worse due to the impact of failed rainy seasons, persistent conflict, soaring food prices and steep cuts to humanitarian funding, according to U.N. and Somali government officials. Of those affected, an estimated 1.84 million children under five are expected to suffer acute malnutrition this year, including nearly 500,000 facing severe forms that require urgent treatment. #unitednations #somalia #worldnews #indiatvnewsenglish Welcome to India TV English News!
