How to remove fan clutch

How to determine what direction thread the fan clutch has. This is a 2000 Ford F350 7.3 diesel, this has right hand thread and the fan clutch needs to be removed counter clockwise. Most crankshaft pulleys are turning clockwise, so you follow the belt and determine what direction water pump pulley is turning. If the water pump turns counter clockwise the fan clutch is RH thread and needs to be turned counter clockwise (left) to be removed. Or vice versa.
