Avvir Tham became the first Singapore man to win a SEA Games diving gold medal in 60 years on Wednesday when he won the 1m-springboard title in Bangkok, Thailand. The 21-year-old Tham scored a personal best 370.35 to win the gold, with Thailand's Chawanwat Juntaphadawon taking silver (357.8) and Malaysia's Yong Rui Jie the bronze (354.55) The last Singaporean to man to win a SEA Games diving gold was Hui Peng Seng in 1965, when the event known as the South East Asian Peninsular Games. Singapore last won a women's diving gold in 2017 when Ashlee Tan and Fong Kay Yian won the women’s 3m synchronised springboard.
