The Cauchy Stress Tensor — Lesson 7

In this video, some of the properties of Cauchy’s stress tensor will be discussed, along with normal and shear tractions for surfaces. Normal and shear stresses are defined as the magnitudes of the normal and shear tractions. Eigenvalues, or principal stresses, are derived in this video.
