Sardar Patel's birth anniversary observed with "Run for Unity"

The 139th birth anniversary of the Iron Man of India Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was observed by the country on Friday as National Unity Day. Prime Minister Narendra Modi began the day by flagging off a 'Run for Unity' from Vijay Chowk and administering a pledge of unity. While underlining Sardar Patel's contribution to India's unity and freedom struggle, PM said Patel devoted his life for the unity of the Nation, even as he stressed that history, legacy should not be divided by narrow confines of ideology.
