Taking advantage of this, Badan Chandra Baruah invited the Burmese to help him. The Burmese invaded Assam three times between 1817 and 1826, causing widespread destruction, killing, and suffering. This time is remembered as the “Manar Din” or Days of Darkness. To end Burmese rule, the British East India Company intervened. Finally, the Treaty of Yandabo was signed in 1826, and Assam came under British rule.
