Beautiful recitation of Surah Al Ahqaf سورة الأحقاف | Divine Verses TV ► Surah Al-Ahqaf ► Ayah: 1-35 ► 46th chapter of the Qur'an About Surah Al-Ahqaf Surah Al-Ahqaf, which was likely revealed in Mecca during the 12th year of the prophetic mission, consists of 35 verses. It takes its name from the word الْاَحْقَاف (al-ahqaf), meaning "the sand dunes" or "the Ahqaf region," mentioned in verse 21. According to the order of revelation, it is the 86th surah, while in the official arrangement it is the 46th surah. Surah Al-Ahqaf has close thematic connections with Surah Al-Jathiyah, which precedes it in the official arrangement. Accordingly, both surahs address topics such as: "beginning with disconnected letters (huruf al-muqatta'at)" (Al-Jathiyah 1; Al-Ahqaf 1); "the source of revelation" (Al-Jathiyah 2; Al-Ahqaf 2); "signs from the book of the universe" (Al-Jathiyah 3-5, 12-13; Al-Ahqaf 3-4); "negative attitudes of disbelievers toward revelation" (Al-Jathiyah 6-9; Al-Ahqaf 7-8, 11); "inclusion of narratives" (Al-Jathiyah 16-17; Al-Ahqaf 12, 21-28); "notification of the personal nature of responsibilities" (Al-Jathiyah 15; Al-Ahqaf 19); and "the terrible fate of disbelievers" (Al-Jathiyah 10-11; Al-Ahqaf 20), creating thematic unity. Surah Al-Ahqaf begins with the disconnected letters and the fact that revelation comes from Allah. It declares that the heavens and earth were created for a purpose and will continue until a specified time, and that disbelievers turn away from these truths. It states that idols have no power whatsoever, that those who plead to them fall into the greatest misguidance, and that on the Day of Judgment, idolaters and those they worshipped, or others among them, will be enemies to one another. From verse 8 onward, the surah addresses: the slander of disbelievers against revelation and the Prophet, that no one, including the Prophet himself, knows what will be done to them in the Hereafter, that Allah will not guide disbelievers, that the book previously given to Prophet Moses presents similar content, that those who believe and remain steadfast according to divine revelations will not experience fear or sorrow in the Hereafter, and that they will remain eternally in Paradise as a reward for their worldly sacrifices. From verse 15 onward, it expresses: the process of human development in the womb and birth through difficulties, the turning of righteous people toward Allah, that their best deeds will be taken into account and their sins overlooked. In contrast, information is given about the negative conversations of evildoers with their parents and the terrible fate they will face in the Hereafter. From verse 21 onward, a brief narrative is given about the people of 'Ad, the nation of Prophet Hud, describing the hurricane that destroyed them, and discussing how many rebellious and deviant peoples were destroyed before them. From verse 29 onward, it is stated that: jinn were directed toward revelation, the jinn who understood the revelation warned their own people and continued the call, Allah created the heavens and earth, creation did not tire Him, and He has power over all things. From verse 34 onward, in the final two verses of the surah, it is stated that: when disbelievers are presented to the Fire they will be questioned and will confess the truth, the Prophet, like prophets of strong determination, must be patient and should not hasten regarding the punishment of disbelievers, when they see the promised Hereafter they will think they remained in the world for only a very short time like an hour, and none will be destroyed except the transgressors.
