A 60-year-old woman came in for a routine checkup just before retirement. She felt perfectly healthy and had no symptoms at all. Her screening mammogram showed a small abnormality. On 3D mammography, it appeared suspicious. An MRI confirmed the finding — even though ultrasound showed nothing. A stereotactic breast biopsy revealed early-stage, low-grade breast cancer with favorable receptors. Because the cancer was detected early, her treatment was straightforward: Lumpectomy Lymph node assessment Radiation therapy No chemotherapy required She recovered well and is doing great. When reviewing her older mammograms, we discovered the abnormality had been present before, but it was missed on 2D imaging. This is why regular breast cancer screening — and the right type of screening — is so important. 📌 Early detection truly saves lives. 📌 Please don’t delay your mammograms.
